Ooh the heat- here's a solution!

Can you believe the temperatures we have been having- phew it's so hot, my thermometer registered 40 degrees yesterday (30th July), and so humid too. If you are having difficulty sleeping at night I have the perfect solution for you, come and try our Haralee (cool garments for hot women) sleepwear. This is made out of wicking fabric, and is great if you are going through menopause/chemo/radiation or are just plain hot stuff at night! here are some pictures so you can see what we have.
For those of you who like soft cotton nighties we also carry those, you can choose between sleeveless, short sleeves or long sleeves. New this last week is also cotton robes to go with the nighties, come down to the store to check them out. See you soon. Stay cool...

Welcome new subscribers to my blog

It has been an exciting week for me! On Tuesday Victoria Munroe came to my store and spent two days rearranging my displays, this was a great tutorial for me, as most of you know I am a novice at retail and need all the professional help I can get!
Victoria comes well qualified having worked many years for Eatons and Sears, as display artist She has a degree in Visual Arts and Marketing. She is a perfectionist and I think she has really improved the flow of the store, and made great vignettes. Come and see what you think, here are some photo's of her work. Victoria is putting together a portfolio for launching her next career, (working with stores on their displays), she is very adept with both small and huge stores equally. If you think your store could do with some improvements contact me and I will put you in touch with her...The weather has been so hot and wonderful, and I have just the thing to brighten up your patio, or dining table for that matter; here is just a small sample of our selection. We have many more choices inside the store, but they really make a table look elegant.

Another new addition to the store is a beautiful line of jewellery, made by local artist Laura Kew of Pacific Reflections Glassworks. It is dichroic glass fused onto silver and the necklaces have a choice of leather or Italian silver chains, earrings make a matching set. They are a perfect gift for someone special. (Laura has moved to her home studio now, you can reach her at 604 485 8352).

That's it for today, enjoy the sunshine!

Just arrived from France, the latest in tripled milled soaps from Gianna Rose Atelier. Oh my goodness they are amazing. The fragrances are to die for! Choose from Sweetpea, Tea Rose, Hydrandea, Red Poppy and Pink Peony. All wrapped so beautifully with ribbon.
Shell soaps which are great for that beach theme in your home, along with diffusers in Honeysuckle and Jasmine fragrance

They even have guest soaps that look like robin's eggs, and are softly scented with Chamomile
and Meadowsweet.

Daniadown have just introduced a line of softly fragranced candles in Red Tea, Linen and Gardenia & Jasmine scents all for the reasonable price of $24.99, well worth it for the large size!

Did you Enjoy Canada Day?

Well once again we celebrated Canada's Birthday, she was 142! The store was closed yesterday, but I was very busy working on my garden. Isn't it amazing where all the weeds come from? I spent hours gardening and you can barely tell where I've been. It is still looking good though, despite being neglected since I took over the store 3years ago. I don't have nearly the time to garden as I used to do.
Here is my garden

Spent the morning revamping the display windows at the store and redoing the display bed because I sold the beautiful Revelle bedding that was on there. I now have a brand new Revelle set on the bed, you must come and see it.! Here it is

It's a very classy look and I just happened to have the perfect cushion to go with it.
I also have just received the cutest small cuddly bears, the best gift for a small child.
Don't forget I have a lots of baby gifts, and childrens bedding too.

Back at work

Arrived at work today with soooo much to do, I am way behind on my bookkeeping (sorry Geri) but have been catching up on ordering for the store since coming back from England. I was happy to see that many of my wonderful customers had bought lots of goodies since I left, and therefore I need to stock up with great new products.
You will find that I am making it a mission to concentrate on products made in Canada, which I think is terribly important to support our struggling economy. We all know that products made in the far east are always less expensive, but that doesn't help our economy so on that note I have brought in 3 more bedding companies that make their goods right here in Canada. That brings my total of Canadian companies to six. These are Daniadown, Cuddledown, Revelle, and the three new ones Nygard, Bergman Home and Croscill. I hope you come and check out the new designs which are just lovely.
Even though my Hotel bedding line is made in China, it is a Canadian company that has a factory over there, and they shipped Italian looms to there, because these are one of the best looms to weave bedding on. So you can rest assured that even my foreign products have a great Canadian infuence.
