Xmas is getting closer!

So here we are only 9 more days to shop for presents. We have lots of ideas to help you. How about a soft luxurious set of towels from Portugul? Cuddledown towels are the very best, they are 250% more absorbent than a terry towel and they dry 50% faster, the bands will not shrink and they hold their colour. A bath towel is $31.95, hand is $22.00 and a face is $11.95, we have sheets too at $51.00. They come in a multitude of colours to suit your decor.

For the spa bathroom we have a new range of colours from Cuddledown and they are a little less expensive too! A bath is $24.25, hand $14.25, face $9.95, the sheet in this range is $41.95, just as soft but not a thick a pile they still make a fabulous gift. Colours such as mushroom, slate, oatmeal, taupe and white all tone in together for a perfect collection.

Bamboo towels also have now a wide range of colours too, come and see for yourself , they are soft silky and super absorbent and are the least expensive of all my towels, so make a great stocking stuffer...
A bath towel is $25.50, hand is $12.50, face is $5.50 and the sheet is an amazing price of $38.00!

Another suggestion would be a set of sheets, or duvet and sham set, everyone loves to snuggle into bed with a soft and cosy set of sheets to keep them warm, we have flannel sets from Portugul too, so we look forward to helping you with your shopping to choose the perfect gift.

Look for our newest updates here on our blog soon.

Now back after summer hiatus...

Where does the time go, it doesn't seem two minutes since I last blogged! It's been a month...the break in blogging unfortunately was due to family issues, and I had to return to England on an emergency visit but now I am back and hope to be sending blogs each week again, with the latest happenings from Beyond The Bed.

I have some exciting items that will be brought in for the coming gift season: for example, Fruits & Passion have introduced a new line in their Cucina called Pink pepper and anise, I have tried it and it smells fabulous...Watch for it to arrive next month!
I will be bringing in xmas specials again, Fruits & Passion always do great packaging for their xmas items.

Along this vein, Crabtree & Evelyn also have fabulous products out for xmas, including a line of aromatherapy scented hand creams, body creams and soaps arriving next month. We also have McBlooms latest products with new packaging in time for gift giving season. Both these companies are now without parabans and lauryl sulphates, a good thing!

Just look at the new bedding coming in for fall
too, so cosy and comfy, perfect for feathering
the nest in time for the cold months ahead..

You will want to look at the best duvets and
pillows to make you bed toasty warm and

New Products are arriving for fall!

Exciting news to tell you about, I have just brought in beautiful bamboo tea-towels and dishcloths, they come if lots of bright colours now! Bamboo has always been in basic whites and ivories, but now we have reds, blues, greens, chocolates etc, just feel how soft they are and very absorbant, not to mention bamboo is antibacterial!

New bath robes have just arrived too in a luxurious waffle weave, the colours are white, ivory, taupe and palest blue. They look lovely and feel soft. Look out in the next few weeks also for mens robes, they should be arriving soon.

Daniadown are introducing more designs in their popular 7 piece and 3 piece bedsets, so convenient, you can buy the whole bed at once, no big decisions to make, it's all done for you. The 7 piece set consists of flat, fitted, 2 pillowcases, duvet cover and 2 shams. A queen set starts at the fabulous price of $220.00 Great value for money there.

I am pleased to say that I can now get sheer curtains in lots of designs and colours, I have some samples in the store, and a catalogue of many more. Also the white drapes are back! White is a favourite colour for windows and always looks smart and classy.

Lazy Days of Summer

Can you believe July has gone by already? Here we are in August and it was lovely to have a couple of days of rain to soak the ground and water the flowers, boy they needed it!
Here are a few new items that have arrived at Beyond The Bed this last week, check out this oh so beautiful Wisteria bedding by Revelle, it's just stunning. Revelle have many more 'european' looking designs, they make the finest quality linens. The fabric is woven in Italy and constructed here in Canada, so the detail work is of a very high standard. You can even get curtains to match!
For all you parents of university students, we have a selection of Twin Extra long fitted sheets in stock, just in time for their departure, because if you don't know most university and college dorm beds are not your regular twin size, they are extra long, so require special sheets, but don't leave it too long if you need to order, it usually takes up to three weeks to arrive after placing. We have great designs for duvets for teens from RJS and Daniadown, to make your teens dorm look warm and inviting after a hard day studying.

Welcome new subscribers to my blog

It has been an exciting week for me! On Tuesday Victoria Munroe came to my store and spent two days rearranging my displays, this was a great tutorial for me, as most of you know I am a novice at retail and need all the professional help I can get!
Victoria comes well qualified having worked many years for Eatons and Sears, as display artist She has a degree in Visual Arts and Marketing. She is a perfectionist and I think she has really improved the flow of the store, and made great vignettes. Come and see what you think, here are some photo's of her work. Victoria is putting together a portfolio for launching her next career, (working with stores on their displays), she is very adept with both small and huge stores equally. If you think your store could do with some improvements contact me and I will put you in touch with her...The weather has been so hot and wonderful, and I have just the thing to brighten up your patio, or dining table for that matter; here is just a small sample of our selection. We have many more choices inside the store, but they really make a table look elegant.

Another new addition to the store is a beautiful line of jewellery, made by local artist Laura Kew of Pacific Reflections Glassworks. It is dichroic glass fused onto silver and the necklaces have a choice of leather or Italian silver chains, earrings make a matching set. They are a perfect gift for someone special. (Laura has moved to her home studio now, you can reach her at 604 485 8352).

That's it for today, enjoy the sunshine!

Did you Enjoy Canada Day?

Well once again we celebrated Canada's Birthday, she was 142! The store was closed yesterday, but I was very busy working on my garden. Isn't it amazing where all the weeds come from? I spent hours gardening and you can barely tell where I've been. It is still looking good though, despite being neglected since I took over the store 3years ago. I don't have nearly the time to garden as I used to do.
Here is my garden

Spent the morning revamping the display windows at the store and redoing the display bed because I sold the beautiful Revelle bedding that was on there. I now have a brand new Revelle set on the bed, you must come and see it.! Here it is

It's a very classy look and I just happened to have the perfect cushion to go with it.
I also have just received the cutest small cuddly bears, the best gift for a small child.
Don't forget I have a lots of baby gifts, and childrens bedding too.

Back at work

Arrived at work today with soooo much to do, I am way behind on my bookkeeping (sorry Geri) but have been catching up on ordering for the store since coming back from England. I was happy to see that many of my wonderful customers had bought lots of goodies since I left, and therefore I need to stock up with great new products.
You will find that I am making it a mission to concentrate on products made in Canada, which I think is terribly important to support our struggling economy. We all know that products made in the far east are always less expensive, but that doesn't help our economy so on that note I have brought in 3 more bedding companies that make their goods right here in Canada. That brings my total of Canadian companies to six. These are Daniadown, Cuddledown, Revelle, and the three new ones Nygard, Bergman Home and Croscill. I hope you come and check out the new designs which are just lovely.
Even though my Hotel bedding line is made in China, it is a Canadian company that has a factory over there, and they shipped Italian looms to there, because these are one of the best looms to weave bedding on. So you can rest assured that even my foreign products have a great Canadian infuence.
